University of Wisconsin-Platteville will host the Tri-State Undergraduate Psychology Conference on Saturday, Nov. 16. Around 100 attendees are expected to attend, including students, faculty and staff from the participating universities.

UW-Platteville senior Maddie Gehl never foresaw herself conducting undergraduate research, but after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June, it sparked an interest of wanting to see how the ruling would affect college students and dating apps.

Research explores relationship between COVID-19 knowledge and emotions, sense of control

In the fall of 2019, Megan Bunyer began exploring potential research topics, guided by particular interests she had in emotion, memory and sense of control. When the pandemic hit last spring, it presented Bunyer with the opportunity to explore these interests in a much more timely and novel project, as she set out to examine the relationship between knowledge surrounding the Covid-19 outbreak and emotion and sense of control.

Student creates peer-led mental health awareness program

Thanks to an internship at UW-Platteville's University Counseling Services, Anna Klimesh had the opportunity to make a potentially big impact on both current and future students at the university. This summer, Klimesh was tasked with creating and publicizing Peers Promoting Mental Health – a student-led support program that aims to increase student engagement in mental health promotion, education and awareness on campus.
