The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Baraboo Sauk County Campus/Community Concert Band will give its fall performance on Monday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m., in the Al. Ringling Theatre in downtown Baraboo.  Director Griffin James will lead the 50-plus member group through multiple selections by Wisconsin composers in a program he says will “showcase how much wonderful band music is coming out of our very own state.”

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Collegiate Crops Team earned honors in the 89th annual National American Royal Kansas City Collegiate Crops Contest and the 94th annual National Chicago Collegiate Crops Contest earlier this month. Researchers call for public’s help reconstructing drought history using ancient redcedar trees

The ubiquitous eastern redcedar tree – a native species but one that can encroach on the region’s pastures and prairies – may be seen as a nuisance to some, but actually has a very important story to tell about the region’s climate history. Researchers from UW-Platteville are calling on the help of residents of the 91iftless Area to identify redcedar tree samples to be included in National Science Foundation research that is studying the long-term history of drought in the region.
